As a saying goes, “A little bit of tender loving care goes a long way.”

With the rising trends of preserved flowers in the floral industry, how many of us exactly understand how can we take good care of it. There are still several important points we need to know even though it does not require much maintenance.

Generally, the best viewing period for preserved flowers is between 6 to 12 months. However, they have been known to last up to years in dry and cool conditions (colder countries). The more humid the environment, the shorter its lifespan. Hence, to keep your flowers vibrant and beautiful as the day you purchased it, it is best to follow the 5 golden rules

  • Do not expose to direct sunlight
  • Avoid the humid and wet area (eg: bathroom)
  • Avoid direct contact with anything wet
  • Place it in an area with good air circulation & avoid unnecessary touching of the flowers
  • keep it in a cool & dry area.

With that said, at times events such as the growth of mold or/and part of the flowers turn transparent might still happen. It can be caused by a variety of combination factors, ranging from storage / environmental / flowers conditions. Fear not, such events can be rectified accordingly and are summarized in our infographics above.

If you happened to own a dehumidifier, it would also help with returning your preserved flowers (that are damp) back to its original, dry state.

Another misconception is that the preserved flowers will wither off like the fresh flowers after a year, which is not true. As time goes by, one of the major changes you will observe would be the color of the flowers fading away due to the technique that was used to preserve the flowers.

Last but not least, for the arrangement that is not stored in a sealed casing, dust can be collected onto the flowers. We can use a hairdryer to blow the dust away from a moderate distance.
